February Thrift Acquisition

It's that time again, time to show off all the cute things I've gotten over the last month. I even travelled to England to get some thrifty finds, (I was actually visiting family but I want to make it sound like I'm so dedicated to thrifting I'd travel borders for it).

I've got a few outfits to show you so I hope you have the patience to sit tight and look at how adorable I am.

Outfit One

Are my eyes closed, or did I fall asleep? That's not really important, what is important is how much I love this outfit.

I got the baggy daisy shorts from Barnardos for only £1.49 from their donation centre in my town. (We have a store as well, we're so lucky!) Donation centres usually sell off clothes for a lot cheaper because it's essentially a giant sort room and when I saw these shorts I had to have them. You have no idea how comfortable they are!

The booties were also from Barnardos for only £3.99 and they are easy to walk in with a supportive platform and stylish wooden heel.

The shirt leapt out of me from the rails in a C.A.S.E charity shop because it reminded me of the medical shirts Dr McCoy used to wear in the orginal 'Star Trek' series and I love looking like a cutie in a sci fi movie.

Outfit Two

Speaking of sci fi... look at this dress! My mum actually found this for me in a Cancer Research UK shop up in Aberdeen for £6.

We are very much a 'Star Wars' family, (I should show you my house sometime in pictures), and my mum is the reason my sister and I love Star Wars. So, she saw this and knew I'd love it.

I have a chubby tummy as previously mentioned in other posts, but I'm trying to get over that and not let it stop me from wearing this cool and sexy dress.

Outfit Three

I'm doing quite a lot of dramatic looking away to the left (actually my right) with eyes partially closed in these pictures. Pretentiousness acheived.

So this outfit I love because it kind of reminds me of a lot of retro eras mixed up together. Let's work down.

The floral blouse was another £1.49 Barnardos find at their donation centre but it was a little baggy so I tied the bottom for that classic 50s knotted shirt look.

I prefer shorts and skirts but I love jeans. I am however, extremly fussy and almost never buy them. These were £4.15 from Cancer Research UK and they fit like a dream. The denim is stretchy enough for comfort but skinny fitted for a modern girl. They've got those rips for the grunge look if I wanted to wear a band tee, and they're acid wash which in my opinion is the best colouring for denim.

The shoes are more than worth a mention! These are Phase Eight, worn twice with the original price on the box of £99, but, I got these beauties for only £6 in Transplant UK. They have such a rich red colour and big roses on the toes for a vintage look that'd match a tea dress nicely.

Outfit Four

Wow, that was a lot of writing for one outfit up there...

But let's move onto this one! Fun story, I used to own these shorts once-upon-a-time and then I lost a lot of weight and I had to donate half my wardrobe because nothing fit, including my favourite pair of shorts. I went into Ayrshire Hospice to look for mugs for my mum and I find these, in my size and in better condition than the ones I owned (I wore them to death). I could not have been more happy at this coincidence and I took them home for a lovely £1.50.

The lacy pastel vest I got from C.A.S.E for £1.50 as well and it's going to look wonderful in all my holiday pictures this summer.

Outfit Five

Okay, get ready for the best outfit of them all. I posted this on instagram when I was volunteering at Sue Ryder a couple of weeks ago, and well, I just had to have it...

I bought the vintage Laura Ashley dress for £14.95 and I love it so much. It's an 80s prom dress done in a gothic Victorian style meaning I look like gothic Ariel.

I may have to pursue a career as a gothic Little Mermaid for kids parties. Or, maybe crash some funerals if that's a thing people do. I just love how much I suit this dress and the floral design gives it a classic vibe. I couldn't get a photograph to do it justice and I may actually go to a professional for some photos. I feel like a beautiful princess and I wish I'd had this dress for my prom or grad ball. My lifelong dream of being Princess Ariel has finally happened, so don't give up on your aspirations kids.

With mermaid love,

Red
